I feel the word is HOPE rising from the ashes. This is the first canvas I painted for 2020. I began before painting “City on Fire” and finished afterwards; it is a partner to the story. When the earth is shaken, hope is our most valued treasure.
At times we feel beyond the ability to recover, but the human spirit innately rises. The whole earth is full of His glory. Bursting from the flames, regenerated, reborn: iniquity is taken away. Isaiah’s vision of ‘the fiery ones’ intensely proclaiming God’s glory from around the throne, cleansing the man of unclean lips with a burning coal, attests that the ancient Seraphim serve the Lord in the purification of humanity.[1] It is both terrifying and exhilarating.
